Default Pro-EU Lib. 'Dem' party leader Clegg ditches pledge for free care for elderly English

Having broken their promise to back a referendum on the EU Constitution (now called the EU 'Amending' Treaty) the europhile Liberal Dims now want to drop their pledge for free care for elderly people in England (a policy which they introduced to match the free elderly care given to many in Scotland since devolution):

Clegg Ditches Free Personal Care From English Agenda (from The Herald )

I totally agree!

Such announcements (similar actions have been attributed to Cameron!) give the lie to true democracy being practised within parties. Party leaders are now party dictators and any pretence of Cabinet Government seems to have gone by the board such is the corruption of our political system wrought by political parties.

With EU criticism of our balloting arrangements (justified), we will soon be no better than a number of African states in this respect!

The europhile anti-English Liberal Dims have let down the people of this country yet again. They have broken their promise on backing a referendum on the EU Constitution (EU 'Amending' Treaty) and hope few will notice that they have now ditched their pledge to help elderly people in England.

I have made a note of what Clegg (the new leader of the Liberal 'Democrat' party) has done on this to be used in the future to criticise the vile pro-EU Liberal Dim party.

As for David Cameron - as we know (but for those reading this who do not): soon after becoming leader of the Conservative Party David Cameron scrapped the Conservative pledge to take the UK out of the damaging EU Common Fisheries Policy.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I don't know what that means! Currently, Scotland is allocated more that 80% of the UK's quota. How will Cameron's stated policy affect this? With a name like Cameron and a long line of ancestors in Aberdeenshire, I'd not pin too many hopes on English fishermen getting much out of Cameron's policy.

As usual, we have a politician saying he will abolish something, but not what he will put in its place!

A leading Scottish Conservative politician resigned in protest at the decision of David Cameron to ditch the Conservative pledge to pull the UK out of the damaging EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).

It is alleged that David Cameron did not even consult the Scottish Conservative Party before he announced his decision to scrap the Conservative commitment to recover control over British fishing waters from the EU.

The policy to pull the UK out of the CFP was backed by William Hague, Iain Duncan-Smith and by Michael Howard when they held the leadership of the Conservative opposition.
