GMTV is holding a poll / inviting suggestions for a new national Bank holiday. Quite a number of viewers this morning suggested St. George's Day, but Gordon Brown was on the programme and he suggested a British Day....Please No! God help Us!!! So now, can every true Englander go on to the GMTV site and propose St.George's Day be the new national Bank holiday. If we can get enough people suggesting it, we will make an impact and they will be giving the results at the end of the week. So get voting and suggesting, and get as many others to do it as possible. We cannot miss such a good opportunity to promote our English Cause. GMTV - Do you think we need another bank holiday in Britain? From the GMTV site: Shakespeare Day This would be a day to celebrate arguably the world's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare. Kate Garraway is supporting it. Monday closest to 23rd April - day of Shakespeare's birth and death (it's also St George's Day) Well done Kate Garraway! ,....... |

Last thing this country needs is another day of skiving.
Replace one of the other holidays and then that's fine. Getting up to German levels of Bank Holidays is not a good idea.

Once again, the ubiquitous silly scot, a caledonian clown poking his nose in and having a pop at England! Like muslims, you've far too much to say for yourselves. Clearly, it would be out of character for such pusillanimous people to have anything remotely kind to say about England and the English. Thank providence there are relatively few of you! Which part of Scotland was St Andrew born in clever clogs! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i totally agree and having ST Georges day off would not in anyway effect the way i feel about being English, I am proud to be so and nothing could change that.

Have a look at this [Scottish Labour] government funded operation: UCL - Department of Political Science - The Constitution Unit and this: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/constitution-un...ons_Sept07.pdf and this: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/constitution-un...0june%2007.pdf 'Scotland', 'Wales' and 'Northern Ireland' but no 'England' . . . only 'English Regions'! Having a St George's Day public holiday for 84% of the UK's population is a modest way of increasing English identity and England's profile! The nay sayers have no alternatives, just criticism and nit picking! So much for THEIR professed love of England! Who needs compatriots like that! I wish they'd shove off and be 'British' in Scotland or Wales and see how far being 'British' gets you there. (The most 'British' Scots and Welsh live and work in England, NOT Scotland and Wales, and they profess to be British in order to get employment and live here. It is hardly surprising that Scots and Welsh in Parliament are content to preside over the huge immigration into England!) Look at the huge prominence given to the two million muslims and five million Scots! It is high time the English asserted themselves. |
