How exactly would you make "Announcements" if you were involved in the National Committee of a Political Party ?

Yes, it's definitely Matt O'Connor:

Actually I think Kentishman did the announcement quite well. The sense of mystery and portent he briefly created managed to keep this thread going for three pages. Whereas imagine if Kentishman had just said:

"Hey everyone, Matt O'Connor is joining the English Democrats!!!!"

we would all have just said:

"who?"

and that would have been the end of the thread.

I think I will join the EDP sounds like fun, they have a stupendously comical slap stick press officer, every time he pops his head up people rush to smack a pie in his kisser. Bloody hilarious. His novel way of announcing ground breaking news is to play 20 questions. Can’t wait for them to get a Prime Minister elected.
His first name begins with R---- but his friend ain't Batman.

When a controversial person is the subject of such announcements ~ like RKS for example ~ it should be with the full prior knowledge, and the consent of the National Council/Executive. If it is Matt O'Connor, the EDP will now be identified as being firmly in the fathers' camp in the matter of child access/custody, rather than being seen as impartial.

Also, instead of being done in a cheap, peek-a-boo fashion of "we know something you don't, and we're not saying what or who", it should be effected in a mature manner as befits an organisation seeking political influence and power.

As matters stand, the EDP has not only lost credibility, but demonstrated beyond doubt how weak it is in reality. A partial press release lauding someone, whom it seems is actually a campaigning publicist with as many opponents (perhaps more!) as supporters, is unlikely to impress many political activists and even fewer ordinary voters.

In my judgement, the most common reaction your childish 'press release' is likely to engender is "Grow up!"

If Matt O'Connor has joined the EDP all well and good, but a simple press release stating this and naming him would have sufficed. After all, if he (or whoever) is that valuable an asset, his qualities would be expected to be soon be in evidence to the benefit of the Party. At the moment it seems that you are not really convinced of his value, as evidenced by the desperate attempt to play up merely the fact of him joining the Party beyond credibility.

If your new member is as good as your hype would have us believe, no doubt the EDP will have half a dozen seats in the GLA before May is out!

Of course, if he had been in a position to make the straightforward announcement that "Neil Herron has joined the English Democrats" this thread would run to thirty pages or more!

As if Neil Herron would stick his head above the parapet that much.
