I admire your statistical knowledge of England, Cassie.

And you are right about the enemies of England having control of the levers of power and the main means of communication. For a start, the biased pro-EU BBC is swarming with europhiles and others whose vocabulary does not include the words England or English.

A population of 0.4 million is hardly to be compared with the 50.6 million in England.

Even Finland ~ the EU member state with the least density ~ has a population of 5.3 million!

Unfortunately, the ones that do predominate amongst the disproportionate number of Scots exercising power and influence in Westminster . . . "the Government in London" as Salmond refers to his compatriots when glossing over the fact of their presence there!

Ah but Malta is about the size of the Isle of White. Large areas are for farming, some areas are even nature reserves with a few birds living there but in the towns every house is about 4-5 stories high at least and the front door steps out onto a pavement which is about 2 feet wide and a narrow road. It has been like that for centuries as the buildings are often very old. In the summer that local population can easily double and the roads are mayhem. No one drives an expensive car over there and the majority have big dents in them, often acquired just by parking them.

Perhaps they could be twinned with Luxembourg to even out things somewhat?

Not really, but I can only wonder why you should suggest that?

As far as I am concerned he is just one of a number of foreign born individuals sitting our legislature courtesy of the unrepresentative political parties in power and their corruption and abuse of our political system.

Hain came to England as a convicted terrorist seeking political asylum. He carried on his unlawful activities here ~ witness the subsequent digging up of the test wicket in Leeds. He also joined the [then] Liberals, but later found it expedient to join the Labour Party.

If he truly cared for the cause of racial equality in South Africa (or in Africa generally), surely he should have returned to inflict his talents there. Obviously he prefers the better quality of life here! No measures are needed to keep huge numbers of migrants going to Africa.

The main facts seem to be that, in the EU, England (as distinct from the UK) has the fourth largest population and, with an area of 130,410 sq km (50,352 sq miles), is ninth largest! Here's a link: Demographics of the European Union - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and another: England - MSN Encarta

If Scotland took a proportionate share of the population, it would have some 35 million people instead of the current paltry 5 million which, given that England only accounts for some 57% of UK territory, reduces the UK's average population density.

90%+ of the projected future population increases will be in England! Why on earth the English have not cottoned on to the fact that the three big Brit parties dominated by Scots and others do not care a hoot just defeats me. We take too much on trust, and our trust is persistently abused.
Some odd arithmetic there, I must say. The UK's population is somewhat over 60 million, if I recall correctly; taking the idea that England makes up 57% of the area on trust, this would clearly make it impossible for Scotland, with considerably less than 43% (as we have Wales and Northern Ireland too) to take 35 million people (roughly 60% of the UK's current population) if it is held to be proportionate to land area which, I think, is what you were getting at.

Also, much of Scotland is uninhabitable for significant populations anyway. I would like to see someone found a major city in the Highlands, for example!
