Some of the crowd now going on about alleged global warming would have - in the 1970's - been warning of "the coming ice age".

It is a good thing to be concerned about the environment - but some of these global warming alarmists use up more gas, electricity and oil; drive larger cars and fly on more intercontintental carbon-emitting air journeys than most of the rest of us.

There are many in the climate change lobby who seem desperate to police our lives.
