The Conservatives in Scotland could win back some constituencies they have lost in Scotland if they adopted a policy strongly opposed to the EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) which has caused such damage to places like Peterhead.

William Hague MP, Iain Duncan-Smith MP and Michael Howard MP (all, of course, former leaders of the Conservative Party) all supported the Conservative policy of taking the UK out of the CFP - but David Cameron ditched the popular CFP withdrawal policy without debate or explanation. A leading figure in the Conservative Party of Scotland resigned his post over the decision of David Cameron.
It is actually interesting that you mention this. Those areas which were heavily damaged by the CFP are SNP strongholds (SNP is strong in the East, Labour in the West). The reason? They are opposed to the CFP (how can they possibly be opposed to this and expect Europe not to slaughter them?) and they also argue that the UK fisheries minister should be someone from one of these constituencies.

Hypocrisy from the obsessively pro-EU Scottish so-called 'National' Party (SNP) on this - they adore the very EU which has caused the near-total destruction of the Scottish whitefish fleet.

I believe that the only view any party concerned about the plight of the Scottish (and the entire British) fishing fleet should take is to support complete withdrawal from the EU - which, of course, would also mean withdrawal from the costly and damaging EU Common Fisheries Policy (CFP).

The SNP supported UK entry into the EEC/EU in 1973 under membership terms which were clearly damaging to Scottish, Welsh, Northern Irish and English fishermen.

Voters in those Scottish fishing ports damaged by EU fishing policy should not vote for the europhile SNP.
