I very much doubt it. I long ago came to the conclusion that it will take some mamoth issue to shake people out of their sleep. Unfortunately such an event will only occur once it is too late.

At ardingly show at the weekend with a UKIP stall and trying to get people to sign a petition calling for a referendum on the treaty. We got over 500 signatures but so many people said "i don't really know, what is it?", "I couldn't care less", and even one person "what is the EU?". It really is frightening. We had some people say "not today", begging the question if not today when? after it has been ratified and imposed on us?

People just don't get it. The only way they would vote for a referendum is if it had big tits!

The english 'parliament' would thus be made up of English MPs sitting in the house of commons, the scottish parliament would be made up of Scottish MPs and the Welsh parliament would be made up of Welsh MPs. Northern Ireland should have the same system although may need transitional arrangements.

This system is fair to each nation by ensuring all devolved powers are devolved equally to all nations, it scraps a layer of politicians and keeps the Union strong.

harryaldrich - In theory i cannot fault it. BUT can you see 40 Welsh MPs,
in 1 week per month, being able to do the "devolved" work of 60 AMs who "work" 4 weeks per month. Bit of a struggle - No?

I was quite serious about saying that the EU's plan was to demolish England which puts in doubt the future of A English football team - this is on a par with your suggestion [but true] - apart from the avid supporters who attend the matches, there are thousands of armchair supporters - if not millions.

There is much evidence to support your line Harry.

The largely untrumpeted annexation of the English county of Monmouthshire was effected by the Local Government Act 1972, which came into effect in 1974.

It was not until a quarter of a century had elapsed that many of those in the affected territory suddenly became aware that they are in Wales! The cause? The substitution of English only road and other signs with those in both English & Welsh! This was one of the early needless expenditures of money by the new Welsh Assembly in 1998. It wasn't sufficient to effect the changes by 'replacement'. Oh no! A wholesale substitution had to take place to assert Welshness ~ indeed to goodness!
