To add to the above: Cassandra was given the gift of prophecy by the gods, with the handicap that no one would believe that.

I was not prophesying, merely(?) giving facts ie history. You should avoid transferring your personal scepticism onto others LE(Sour) ~ it is presumptious and not necessarily true!

Is there any arrangements between UKIP and ED's not to fight the same seats?

Neither party can fight every seat because of limited reources [people/money] surely some arrangement would benefit both to the advantage of the anti EU movement.

That will be the ED's downfall. You just wait till you get a bit bigger and the 'democracy' will rip you apart!

It might be wise to have an understanding locally, but who is really silly enough to want to discuss such matters here?

Why should either party wish to be 'tainted' by the other, or unhelpfully linked in voters' minds by the media?

I wasn't suggesting that the leaders came onto the forum to discuss the matter, but the anti EU movement would benefit from some simple arrangement. I would think the media would see such an arrangement as mature and demonstrating that both parties were serious about their declared aims and that these were more important than their personal rivalries.

UKIP will campaign for an English Parliament says leading UKIP figure Mr. David Campbell-Bannerman, according to a recent article in the East Anglia Daily Times.
Only a few months ago,the main point of the manifesto for the Wales Ass. Elections was "Abolish the Wales Assembly"
Why would DCB campaign FOR an English Parliment, while 170 miles down the road he is campaigning AGAINST the Wales Assembly??
It doesn't make sense.
Is this party policy or is UKIP making it up as it goes along - again?
I wonder what he would be stating if he happened to be in Yorkshire or Cornwall, whatever the locals wanted to hear??
If we cannot sing from the same hymn sheet - we leave ourselves open to ridicule - & rightly so

The policy is to scrap the assemblies and instead use the existing MPs. i.e. scrap a layer of politicians. MPs would then meet in westminster for union business for, say 3 weeks month, and then return to their home nations to deal with devolved issued. The english 'parliament' would thus be made up of English MPs sitting in the house of commons, the scottish parliament would be made up of Scottish MPs and the Welsh parliament would be made up of Welsh MPs. Northern Ireland should have the same system although may need transitional arrangements.

This system is fair to each nation by ensuring all devolved powers are devolved equally to all nations, it scraps a layer of politicians and keeps the Union strong.

It seems feasible, even economical, but will it sell?

Increasing numbers of the 38 million voters in England are feeling short changed by comparison with the 6 million voters in N Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and may well want no less an arrangement for themselves.

Democracy - which England has been denied for too long - does not necessarily deliver the 'best' solutions, whatever they may be. RAB summed up politics here with the title of his autobiography "The art of the possible". He was, after all, the architect of the 1944 Education Act which lasted many decades (and, in some respects, still does) .

ED's consistently quote that around 67% want an English Parliament - if the English football supporters could be got on side - it would be a breeze!

Perhaps if they knew the EU's plan was to demolish England they would rapidly respond to the cause.
