Why is there a freak moaning about sexism and racism when they are the most racist and sexist of all?

Are there people that thick out there influencing society? Scary huh?

All-women shortlists can undermine movements towards a radical reconstructing of the underlying power relations, which are a primary cause of unequal democratic participation. They are artificial, faux democratic protocols, which create illusions of change.

Maybe there should be national service for women with a lot drawing system so that a % become compulsory political candidates whether they like it or not to make 50/50 male/female candidates. Further , male candidates with a higher vote could be deleted to hand the win to a female with a lower vote. ( Feminantidemocracy) . Will all that satisfy the sisters ?

It's fun to watch: the last of the British Reactionary Males, fearful of being shafted by their own women folk

They're so worried they're becoming impotent and losing out to Blacks, the EU and immigrants, they're determined to enforce their dominance of the fairer sex.

Not so much a one-night-stand. More a last ditch stand.

Tally Ho lads! Your country's proud of you.

I think that people tend to forget that in Britain we have had a woman at the top of the pile for the past 49 years. In that 49 years, a quarter of them also had a woman at Number 2, and the amount of whinging that goes on from certain (lefties) people, you would have thought she was still at Nš2.

Strange that, Harriet Harman didn't impose an all women short list in Birmingham for the seat her husband went for, apparently couldn't make it to the meeting to answer questions either.

Equality for women except when it's nepotism?

I liked Cameron's reply to Dromey last week during PMQT.

"Cameron says Dromey should apologise to his constituents for being the winner of an all-women shortlist and tell them the coalition is doing good things for Birmingham."

As a first step, just impose all women candidates on a constituency basis, that is all parties have to list only women candidates, then make voting compulsory.

However, the real solution to our sexist/racist society would be to completely ban White English Males from government agencies and other positions of power, particularly those positions to do with recruitment. There might be some difficulty selling such a progressive solution to the electorate, so to make the progressive intention clear a term such as 'Positive Action' may have to be invented. Also it would be necessary to strictly avoid putting down on paper any rule, clause or advice that seems to indicate that White English Males would have no possibility of securing a position.

    Err, hang on a minute..
Positive action to abolish discrimination and stereotyping

I oppose all women shortlists as I oppose all positive discrimination. Either we aim to create a meritocracy or we don't, but we shouldn't establish systems that assume a lack of merit on the part of one group or another. Women are the majority and are capable of joining political parties as equals and selecting the most suitable candidate, male or female, without interference from others.WOW Items Gold
