Following the election of Conservative MP Mr. Boris Johnson as Mayor of London Mr. Johnson will stand down as an MP to concentrate on his new job and a Parliamentary By-Election will take place in his Henley-on-Thames constituency.
The Conservatives are well ahead in the opinion polls and the expectations of many are that the Conservative Party will hold the seat. Media interest in the Henley-on-Thames Parliamentary By-Election may concentrate as much on who comes second, third and fourth in that By-Election contest as on who comes first. UKIP have been beating Labour in wards similar to the Henley-on-Thames seat across the south of England for some time now and some think UKIP could beat Labour (who are doing badly in the opinion polls) in the Henley-on-Thames By-Election.
Today's Times reports that the father of Boris Johnson, Stan, who is a former member of the EU 'Parliament' may (allegedly) be interested in being the Conservative candidate at Henley-on-Thames when the By-Election is held:
