Default Will pro-EU ex-Mayor of London Livingstone stand in this month's Crewe By-Election?

Europhile 'Ken' Livingstone was ejected as Mayor of London at 11.53 pm last night (thank goodness).

Labour are now looking for a candidate at Crewe-Nantwich (Labour majority 8000) following the sad loss of eurosceptic Labour MP Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody last month.

Although the funeral of Mrs. Dunwoody has not taken place - Labour have allegedly moved the Writ for the By-Election for 22.5.2008. Previous protocol was to move the Writ after the funeral of the deceased MP had been held.

Will ex-Labour Mayor of London Livingstone apply to be the Labour candidate at Crewe-Nantwich?

There has been no indication from Livingstone that he is interested in returning to the House of Commons.

When former Labour Minister and campaigner against the EU 'Tony' Benn lost his Bristol Parliamentary seat in the 1983 General Election he returned to the Commons within nine months at the Chesterfield By-Election.

'Ken' Livingstone, has, of course been an MP before - but with the Conservatives well ahead in the national opinion polls would he face defeat twice in a month if he contested Crewe for his party?

No.While he is the opposite to me in he wants a Socialist collective, the very least you can say about him, is he sticks to his principles. He is a London boy and wants to work on make London little Moscow.

He won't go for this.

You may well be right (quote above).

And I am sure the people of Crewe-Nantwich hope you are right too.
