Default Positives from election results

I understand more info is coming out but the total number of votes cast for UKIP was easily our best ever in local elections which is influenced by the fact that we had more candidates than ever before BUT the % share of vote we got in like for like previously contested seats was also significantly up.
We are definitely making progress

Yep. We need to look at the total number of votes we received nationally, and the increase in votes in those wards we have stood before.

Does anybody have these figures?

Default POLITICAL BETTING COMMENT ON LOCALS

An interesting neutral analysis of the local elections with this comment on UKIP:

Quote:
UKIP managed to poll more strongly than its performance in recent by-elections had implied it would, but still suffered an overall loss of one seat.

Default positives from election results

If the trend in medway has been repeated around the country it has been a successful election.
It would be interesting to see the results from other parts of the country.

The problem remains that we put up 1,000 or so candidates and had but 5 returned. I am not being critical - I stood myself - but we need to understand why we did not do well. We came last most of the time.

In Waveney where candidates had stood before there was an increase in the vote and in wards where candidates where standing for the first time we more often then not did not come last.

Actually results for seats previously contested were mixed. In some areas definetely up but in others lower than 2003 with generally much lower than the peak of 2004 boosted by the MEP elections at the same time.
