Hi new here first post.
Always voted Labour and have no complaints with economic policies (indirect taxation aside), in my opinion I have been better off under labour governments than Tory.
My problems with the last government was the erosion of liberties, the we know whats good for you and you WILL obey us mentallity, IE congestion zones, speed traps every mile rather than at blackspots, smoking bans, ID cards and just the every day interference in peoples lifes that the dogooder has to have.
Any way, last election I decided to vote Liberal not for any other reason than a protest vote. The problem is if an election was to be held tomorrow, I dont believe that my options have changed I would find myselve casting an anti Tory vote rather than a pro anyone else vote.
Do we need a new party in this country? not a bunch of misfits like ukip, respect, and the bnp, but a party that looks after the worse off without any big brother type interference or big buisness friendly economics.
Dont know if this comes across right but what I am asking is who can I cast a pro vote for? I want to support a party rather than detest one.
Unfortunatly, "New Labour" had very little connection to "Old Labour".
In fact they were even further to the Stalinist / Fascist pact than any mainstream party before or since.
A few to look at mate. The working class are in desperate need of a real alternative. Best of luck!

The fundamental problem is that anyone willing to stand for election is very likely have something seriously wrong with their character so the answer to your question is, "No".
The only solution is to have more referendums on key policies so the politicians are prevented from getting in the way.
Most elections are decided on an anti vote not a pro vote. We vote to get rid of the incumbent not because we have any great faith in the new government who we will, in due course, vote out...what I am asking is who can I cast a pro vote for? I want to support a party rather than detest one.
"The working class are in desperate need of a real alternative."
How true is that, dont know to much about their policies but you can see the atraction of the SNP (if you live that way).
"Remember, you can only vote for a party that has a candidate in your area. "
Rock solid Tory seat where I am with very little alterative at the last election.
"The fundamental problem is that anyone willing to stand for election is very likely have something seriously wrong with their character"
Spot on, always said if a person wants to be in charge he or she is the last one you need.
"Most elections are decided on an anti vote not a pro vote."
Probably true, but a lot of tory voters seem to at least be tories what would a Labour supporter (as opposed to voter) be , if not a socilaist then what?
Thanks for all the reply`s .
The Labour Party has always had a bit of a Methodist finger wagging streak, but I agree that the Blair years were the worst.
Backbench Blair critic Bob Marshall-Andrews observed that New Labour home secretaries,John Read and Jack Straw had been in Communist parties as youth- "that's where they learned all about civil liberites." Nice one Bob.
The SDP does have an appeal since it was set up by leading Labour politicians at the time to escape the control of the Unions - similar to the situation Milliband finds himself in now,
David Owen intended to wind the Party up when, after the merger with the Liberal Party that he did not support, he found that the support for the Party fell to single figures and often low single figures. However, since then a bunch of stalwarts have kept the Party going, although mostly in local government in a few selected areas.
In recent times they have changed their policy to 'leave the EU' and it seems likely to me that disgruntled Labour Party activist will be seeking a new party because of TUC control and dislike of the EU and the SDP will seem like their best option if they are not going to start a new party.
We need a voice for the working class, that is inclusive of a patriotic viewpoint that is anti EU & pro English parliament.
Labour have betrayed the very people they where set up to protect and are nothing more now than a middle class plaything of the trendy career politicians.
Divided we will simply be ignored, we need unity, purpose, vision and organisation.
The question is when & how?
