Default Buy British from Bombardier and not from Siemens in Germany

Everything is wrong with British procurment policy when we buy 1200 rail carriages from Siemens in Germany, and ignore British train maker Bombardier.

This crazy British government decision to buy from Germany has led to 1400 job cuts at Bombardier's Darby plant.

David Cameron should change his ways, and turn to a more economically sensible and patriotic buy British procurment policy.

There is another thread on this, but I would go to say that your assumption that it is "rubbish" because it is made in Britain is a sad reflection on the people of this country and the malaise that has set in. They get fed some marketing that your VW, or Bosch, or Miele or some other German branded good is better because those Germans are such conscientious hard workers. True, British Leyland products were ****, but they have gone. My favourite British product, which was one of the best available at it's price 15 years ago or so (and still going strongly) is my Arcam stereo. Actually my English shotgun, undoubtedly and unquestionably we made the best in the world and still do, is still going strong and that is over 100 years old, as is a ram that my father had to pump water to his house (although it has been on the mains for a few years now).

Never make assumptions, its a bad habit. I never said made in britain is always rubbish, but neither is made in Britain always the best...to believe either is foolish and wrong...

You shouldn't make assumptions either, as I am doubting that you have the first idea whether Bombardier's product was rubbish or not. (Again, you might be a ex-train maker so my assumption might be still indulging in that bad habit - ooops naughty me, and thank you ever so much for kindly pointing that out).

Quite right. Inspite of what producers say, our wine really isn't up to scratch.

Maybe, one should ask why the current contract to build Trains from Derby is Seventeen months late, and the ones that were built first, couldn't do more than 30mph 'cos they didn't bloody work.

    Just a thought.
