In my 'credit where credit is due' series I have to award Cameron a gold star here.
Well done!

He did not use a veto, there was nothing to veto. You have been taken in by spin.
EU Referendum: A few points
Well it's better than him agreeing to it. Look at the euro fascists faces.

This is how Gavin Hewitt the BBC Europe editor is "spinning it":
"PM David Cameron has effectively vetoed an EU-wide treaty change to tackle the
eurozone crisis, saying it was not in the UK's interests."

Only those who say he didn't do the right thing are spinning it. Clegg will be delighted!

The Prime Minister is certainly right to say no to these arrangements and should be given credit for doing so.
There are as usual with the Eu though several notes of caution, these measures could be imposed on us by other means as we saw with the working time directive in the 1990s, I dont claim to have knowledge to how this could happen but the Eu is notiorously duplicitous and has not time for democracy.
As we now face the prospect of a two speed Europe it is important to remember that Eurozone countrys will still have a huge influence over British Economic policy, whether the Euro works or not, its rules and its future matter.
The German and French leaders have already imposed new governments on Italy and Greece where the PM tried to call for a referendum they are also dictating to the New Spanish Government which won a clear mandate what its policy should be.
Finally it is clear now that whilst the PM was right in the action he took last night he still faces a huge headache, the pressure to hold a referendum on our membership/relationship with the EU should be mantained.
There is a clear split on this issue, the bulk of the Tory party want a referendum, thier colaition partners dont, the Labour Party who say the PM has showed weak leadership on this issue dont actually say whether the deal he turned down was good for the country.
These differences cannot be reconciled, what I wish the PM would do but there is no chance of him doing it is the following.
1) Disolve the coalition
2) Call an immediate General Election with a clear statement that a returned Tory Government would hold that referendum.
The question of who governs was put to the people over a diffrent issue by Ted Heath in 1974, ironic as he had sold the county down the river already. It was the wrong question then, it is the right one now.
Whatever the rights and wrongs of last night the Eu is unlikely never to be the same again, the Prime Minister knows it, and he should face it and say clearly where he stands, at the ballot box, forthwith.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Even though he doesn't know it yet, he could have just won the next general election. Check these two videos from the Biased Broadcasting Corporation. Cameron seems to have made his decision. Many UKIPers will start backing the Tories if he carries on playing this “game of chess” with the EU.

He didn't veto anything, he just refused to sign a piece of documentation.
