Support for Boris Johnson MP, the Cameron-backed Conservative candidate for the London Mayoralty, has fallen according to a new opinion poll the results of which were published on 25.1.2008.
London Tonight - the ITV 1 news programme in the capital - said at 11.31 pm last night that last month (as I reported on this forum) support for the Labour europhile leftist Mayor of London, 'Ken' Livingstone, was just a single percent ahead of Boris Johnson. ITV 1 London now says that Boris Johnson is 4% behind Livingstone. The pro-EU Cameron-Conservatives in London had been hoping to capitalise on Labour's unpopularity (Labour being 8% behind the Cameron-Conservatives nationally in recent opinion polls). Recent publicity for Boris Johnson (such as his appearance in a live ITV 1 television debate showon in the capital with Livingstone and the Liberal 'Democrat' candidate) has not, so far, boosted the Conservative vote in London. David Cameron, who hates UKIP, hopes that a Conservative win in the 2008 London Mayoral elections will boost his own chances of winning the next General Election (Lady Thatcher's success in helping her party win the Greater London Council election of 1977 enthused many voters to go on and support her party two years later when she won her first General Election). The obsessively pro-EU and pro-euro Liberal 'Democrats' will be very disappointed that their own candidate for the London Mayoralty has gone up in the new opinion poll by a meagre 1% to a humiliatingly low 8% projected vote share across the capital. Europhile Clegg's appointment as Liberal 'Democrat' leader has failed to lift his party's vote in London, if the new opinion poll is anything to go by.Results of London-only opinion poll December 2007 (regarding the May 2008 London Mayoral Elections): Livingstone/Labour 45% Boris Johnson/Conservatives 44% Paddick/Liberal 'Democrats' 7% Results of London-only opinion poll January 2008 (regarding the May 2008 London Mayoral Elections): Livingstone/Labour 44% Boris Johnson/Conservatives 40% Paddick/Liberal 'Democrats' 8% Last edited by Britannist; 26-01-2008 at 05:00 AM. |

Everything must be done in London to stop the IRA apoligist and Europhile Livingstone being relected.
I certainly hope Londeners think very carefully as to how they cast there second preference votes in particular.

Same down my way, he is hated for appeasing the IRA in the 1980s.

I think I would vote A.N. Other, most suited to my platform first, then against all my better judgement give Boris my second vote, simply to get Livingstone out.

I like UKIP but all I want to do now is remove labour from government before they completely destroy this country.
I know Boris comes across as a bit of a toff with no real idea when he talks but if you read articles by him he dose seem to know what he's talking about. It's about time that we got rid of this bunch lying hypocrite traitors and removing that communist ****** livingstone would be a good start. |

We have two votes in the London Mayoral Elections - first and second preference. Those who want the unpleasant UKIP-hating Labour europhile Livingstone out but who do not vote Conservative in the first round of voting will vote for Conservative candidate Boris Johnson MP in the second round of voting (only two candidates will go through to the second round - and they almost certainly will be Labour Mayor Livingstone and Boris Johnson MP).
