Ian Hislop - a panellist on the BBC Television programme 'Have I Got News For You' and editor of Private Eye - is to host the meeting which will decide on the successor as Conservative candidate to Miss Ann Widdcombe who is retiring as MP for Maidstone/The Weald at the next General Election:

Helen Grant is a member of the Law Society Equality and Diversity Committee where she is “advising the Law Society Council, its Boards and committees on matters of equality, diversity and inclusion.”

She is a member of the Conservative Bow Group.

James Brown CBE, Former Executive Chairman of Newsquest Media Group said she is “the new face of the Tory Party.”

Mike: I haven't heard much about eurosceptic Mr. Howard Flight lately. I wonder if he is looking for the Conservative Parliamentary candidacy in a constituency. I have not read of him being selected anywhere yet.

For those readers who do not know it - Mr. Flight was made to stand down as Conservative candidate at Arundel just before the last General Election by the then Conservative leader Mr. Michael Howard MP for allegedly going 'off script' on an economic matter.

As we know, when europhiles in the Conservative Party go 'off script' they face no such sanctions.

If it is racist to exclude someone on the ground of race, surely it is also racist to include someone on that basis?

Voters in Maidstone will have the last say, and Maidstone is hardly the same as (say) Brent or Lambeth!

I totally agree! Unfortunately we have been so dumbed down by the PC brigade that anyone with any clout is afraid to mention it for fear of being outcast as a racist!

I am very sorry she is retiring, I thought she was bril! especially with the programme she did to try to get the police to tackle difficult areas/difficult problems which they ignore. I hope she does not disappear from view altogether.
