Chad was very quick off the mark and clever with that move.

Credit where credit is due.

Yes, fair play, he generated some pretty good coverage there. Made a serious political point, too, as the Grauniad reported.

What will be interesting is what if anything ukip.org, ie the leadership of UKIP, make of that and also the purple alliance stunt. I'll bet on ignore, with embrace well behind and criticise very much an outsider.

Additional Edit: I have just been to ukiphome and there is not a single direct link to ukip.org there. A small number of articles link to stories at ukip.org but there is no actual link to ukip.org itself. There is a 'Join us now' button which purely relates ukiphome - no link directs people to join UKIP at all. So Chad has acheived a significant amount of publicity but it all seems to be for himself and his website.

It is nothing to do with gettng people to join UKIP or learn anything about UKIP separate to his personal agenda for the party. I should know better but I am gobsmacked.

You may not agree with all Chad does but you have to give credit where credit is due.
He started the campaign for london mayor donations(ok maybe went about it the wrong way but at least he is trying to do something)
He was quick off the mark with webcameron and the purple alliance stunt.
You can say what you like about him but he is coming up with some interesting stunts. Only time will tell if they work(i think they will)

Yep. A very sad state of affairs when the BBC prefers to cover the spoof website than the launch of the tax policy of the 4th largest political party in the UK.

Telegraph today:
Quote:
David Cameron's new venture into webcasting was subjected to a guerrilla attack by the UK Independence Party yesterday.

Ukip, which wants Britain to quit the European Union, set up an internet address, WebCameron.info, deliberately similar to the Tory leader's WebCameron site.

Surfers clicking on the bogus site were treated to a niftily-spliced video parodying the similarities in language and style between him and Tony Blair.
It's amazing that this Telegraph piece has it wrong about this being a UKIP venture. Shows the level of ignorance generally in reporting about UKIP. Even the Guardian had the facts straight yesterday.

That's exactly how UKIP are having to fight at the moment though. There are various splinter cells out there and if that's the only way our pathetic media will take any notice, then so be it.

There is now a post suggesting people join ukip and a link to enable that. Bit belated but good that it is now there. Credit where and all that. Not sure what the ukip.org webmasters will think about the description of their 'out of date' website - last update 4th October 2006.
