Don't be too hard on me :wink: - Zak Goldsmith has appeared a couple of times on Question Time (Dimbleby, BBC 1 Television) in recent years and made anti-EU 'noises'. I know it's not enough - but it's better than Heath, Mandelson, Charles Clarke, Patricia Hewitt, Lord David Steele, Howe, Heseltine, K. Clarke, Patten etc. who worship the ground the President of the EU Commission walks on.

I fully accept that there may be some people who claim to be anti-euro but may not really be so. I also recognise that it's easy for some pro-EU people to be anti-euro at the moment because the euro isn't working so there's no point in them backing a loser.

We are all agreed that only total opposition to the EU and the policy of withdrawal from it is the only acceptable policy. Being outside the euro, however, makes it easier to quit the EU than being in it. Therefore geniune anti-euro people must not be shunned.

For some people (certainly not all, I accept), becoming anti-euro is the first step on their journey towards and into the anti-EU movement.

Thank you for finding the above quote. If the remarks are true and quoted correctly I obviously don't agree with them. A tax on aviation fuel will hit the pockets of millions of people who normally would not be able to afford air travel'. The rich, ruling pro-EU 'elite' can afford air travel even if the ticket prices quadrupled.

Nothing less than total condemnation of the EU is acceptable in my view.

But I still stick by my original view that the pro-Labour Mirror published the Zak Goldsmith story for political reasons. They don't seem to print such reports/stories about 'one of their own' (i.e. Labour Party figures) very often. And the Mirror probably published the story thinking that Zak Goldsmith was strongly eurosceptic - in view of what they know of Sir James Goldsmith and the Referendum Party.

The intention of the Mirror group is to vilify Conservatives, eurosceptics and anti-EU people. They were like that when Maxwell was in charge (of the Mirror) and they still hate British sovereigntists (anti-EU people) now.
