The Bear has reported a post.

Sorry, but unless chapter and verse can be produced to support this post as it is presently written it is potentially very damaging to the author and to the forum.
Post: Parmjit Dhanda and Bribe.

Today I overheard some people talking about Dhanda, they were talking about the scandal concerning him appartantly either using money or visas to bribe Muslims to vote for either him or the party he represents which of course is Labour. I have done a search engine search and haven't found any article about this. Is what I heard true or not?

Btw ome of the people talking about it is canvassing for the Conservatives.

In the absence of proof of the assertion being communicated in the post then the post itself is a libel since as under English law to repeat a libel is a libel in itself.

This item is worth reading, especially section 4.

BBC - Action Network - How to avoid libel and defamation

Thanks for that Bear its a real good site.I'de better be a bit more carefull in future.

But seriously though,is calling anyone something on the lines of being a Conservative or EU fanatic libel, slander, just plain wrong or what?

If so,most on here are already on dodgy ground I would think, including myself as well.

No, it’s not that, it was that in the original post there was reference to an illegal act and there was no authenticated evidence to support the accusation.

That being so the person who was being named could have taken action and based on similar events in the past if evidence to support the claim was not produced would have had a field day.

Blimey, the old "he said, she said" jargon would definately get you into trouble then I think.

It must be legally unsafe to repeat stuff, unless you are 100% sure that it is true, and that you can prove it so if challenged.

You’ve got to be careful, that’s for sure.

That’s why I try to make it clear that it’s not just me being a sod at times like this, and nor do I want to come over as being just a smart ar$e.

Well, not at times like this anyway!
