My signature is there simply to show the said posters that I can't see their posts, therefore it's pointless them expecting a response from me.

Personally, I think that's a fine sentiment. Ignore lists, in my opinion, should at most be implemented by moderators if you can convince them that a person really is harassing you; as it is, I feel that they are mainly used to avoid debate at the moment.
