Not exactly a practical solution. Only people like myself and yourself, who use their computers extensively and with considerable experience are even able to install and manage their own servers with any degree of safety - after all, a misconfigured mail server is an open invitation to spammers to use as a relay.

If an idiot like me can do it, then anyone can.

I used to think like that, but in my years of helping other people to do relatively routine stuff, I have found that generally people do not think straight.

Somewhat related to their inexplicable ability to vote labour or conservative at General Elections whilst hating everything they now stand for.

UKIP MAN's original post edit reason.

Reason: wrong color
Now there's a man who's serious about his text colour.

I found my Dad putting his email address into the google searchbar while trying to log into Paypal. That's after several years of using the Internet

Actually chaps, when I posted that about the email server I wasn't thinking about Joe Blogs... ...I was thinking about you guys in this thread who're more technically savvy than the general public.

Tony/Alex/Ian/Ant... ...you guys know what you're doing. So why are you letting yourselves get all that spam?

I don't claim to be an expert, but it came last year with disbelief - heard about it but not seen it personally. In hindsight, you might say a good learning curve.

Hi John,

I prefer an active role in the anti-spam community, helping to combat the ********.

Although I may set up a mail server one of these days.
