Default Moderating of UKIP Forum

This isn't a complaint, more of a suggestion. I'm not even sure if it is a good one.

Recently, there have been many posts and topics which plainly serve no purpose but to slander UKIP. Maybe it is the the moderators got tough on these sorts of posts.
I'm not suggesting EU style censorship, just keeping the complaints positive.

We try to lock any duplicates and stop any unhelpful off topic squabbling.
Bad news and lies will out, as they say.

It is very tricky to moderate really. We have always operated a policy of free speech wherever possible. There is a legitimate complaint if a topic appears to be duplicating other discussions; in this case we can merge the two. We also occasionally moderate obviously trolling topics/posts, but they do have to be very obvious for that to happen.

I would hope that UKIP supporters will put up a better defence in future - tackling the issue head on, rather than getting into slanging matches which appears to happen too often at the moment. Rip the complaints apart, like we used to!

Can I (a humble poster) suggest that those who are concerned for the well-being of UKIP consider carefully the wording of any posts we make that could cause unnecessary damage.

Can I also suggest that any responses we make to those who seem to be determined to damage the party should be cool and factual (or indeed that posts from such people should be ignored).

I will certainly be making an effort to do this.

That is absolutely the best practice. Readers can see through smear attacks, but they gain credibility if they aren't tackled in a cool headed manner.
