I'm with Tony; enabling them isn't an option at this time.

Aye, but you can just as easily post stuff like that :?

The only reason I want one is to promote the graphics topic - so I'll just keep adding manually until people start getting there arses in gear!

No, you can't. Registered users show up in the memberlist even without being activated by the admins. In order to post, they have to be activiated by the admins.

Exactly... so if the nubs are stopped by admin where's the problem in sigs?

If someone slips through the net of being validated then it's just as easy to hit "New Topic" as it is to change a sig...

Sadly, as much as I like them, I agree with Anthony and Alex and think they should be left 'off'.

It seems a shame though. I think signatures are good for showing a little of your personality; you know, perhaps a quote that you find particularly insightful, a short poem, thought for the day or any number of things like that.

However, on this forum you could be sure that the trolls would use them to promote that racist party, have a pop at our moderators, et cetera. Sadly.
That's in addition to the porn bots and other nasties.

Good point.
It seems unlikely, given the amount of slight technical glitches this forum seems to have, and also bearing in mind that it'd be a fair amount of work for little benefit, but couldn't links to external images be converted to nothing more than plain text (if people want to copy and paste it into their address bar, then on their head be it when they get a virus) and certain words/acronyms (that party in particular, of course) be filtered out?

Yes it could be done. I will take that suggestion to the other moderators

Thanks.
It really would be nice if we could have signatures, as I'm sure has been said; it's the small details that... something or other.
Oh dear...
I've forgotten the proverb...

Forget the signatures.
They ruin other forums.
Don't let this one get polluted.
