Britain Best Politicans?

Ok, let us cut through the cynicism a bit and try and focus on the positives. Who are your favourite politicians?

They don't have to match your own political view points but maybe you admire their charcter (or vice versa)?

By this I mean elected representatives or peers within British politics.

Maybe you have your own 'ideal' government in mind, formed by a cross-section of different party politicians (maybe they all oppose the EU etc)?

Feel free to say as many (or few) as you can and even give some reasons.

Do you admire David Davis for his principled stand?

Did you support Clare Short's resignation from the Labour party?

Maybe Bob Spink is your man?

Is a Sir Menzies Campbell one of Britain's few elder statesmen?

Fell free to have a go and list yours!

Mr. Speaker for his amazing accent (especially when he gets worked up).
Charles Walker for his BNP bashing.
David Cameron for cutting up Gordo at PMQs.
Bob Spink for defecting to the best party out there.
George Galloway for having the guts to go out and shout at whoever he disagrees with.
Any MEP, PPC or councillor working to make UKIP stronger.

If we are talking of MP's I would say only Ian Paisley for his stance on homosexuality and his Patriotism.
Of English MP's last good one was Alan Clark.

Frank Field, as he seems to be the only one who supports an English Parliament.

In no particular order:

Margaret Thatcher - for transforming Britain from the poor man of Europe back into a leading global player - and for defending British territory abroad.
David Davis - the leader who wasn't. Should have won the Party leadership to begin with. And recently for his spirited defence of liberty.
John Major (particularly for this article: 42-day detention: the threat to our liberty | John Major - Times Online)
Liam Fox - for some excellent speeches during his leadership bid.
Betty Boothroyd - the best Speaker of the House of Commons that I know of)
Nigel Evans - for some excellent speeches in the House of Commons.
Nigel Farage - for bringing the anti-EU cause into the spotlight and being a credible, respectable force in the Eurosceptic movement.
Peter Hitchens - for some excellent articles in defence of British freedoms.
William Hague - an exemplary Parliamentarian
