I never cease to be amazed by the Poles absolute conviction that Britain somehow owes them for their nations efforts in the Second World War.

Perhaps I have misunderstood some key element of history because I was under the impression it was the UK which entered the war, in the defense of Poland.

A variety of other nationalities share the Poles' strange view that the fight against fascism was somehow Britain's responsibility rather than that of all mankind and therefore we owe them for their paltry efforts.

So, a Tory MP of Polish extraction wants a day to celebrate, well, other Poles? And immigrants contribute what to British society? Nothing, except their own self advancement.

Hardly surprising and completely predictable.

Default Poles, British, Lithuania, Latvia, Immigration, eastern europe, crime

Poles topped the list of arrests of foreign and British people in the UK in 2006, the Daily Telegraph reported on 28.1.2008. 7337 Poles were arrested in 2006 according to data provided by 18 police forces. In fourth place were people from Lithuania with those from Latvia in tenth place on the list (Portuguese were in ninth place).

Immigration from eastern europe has increased crime the police claim according to a recent report in the Daily Express:

Default Brief extract

Brief extract from the Daily Express edition of 17.4.2008 article on the first link given in the last posting to this thread: "Immigration from Eastern Europe has led to a huge surge in crime, police chiefs will tell the Home Secretary today. The hundreds of thousands of migrants who have flocked to Britain in recent years have had a significant impact on communities and have placed fresh demands on policing, a review has found."
