Labour broken its promise on a referendum for the proposed EU constitution?

It has.

No question about it.

Brown has even lied about what is on the table today.

But under the circumstances it was the right thing to do.

Under the circumstances the promise should never have been made.

Of concern is the number of people I have come across, who now think there should be a referendum but then do not understand what the referendum is about. I have come across many people now and asked them if they think there should be a referendum, which they answer Yes, then I ask which way would you vote - they look blank! "Oh, I don't know what it's all about really".

If only Britons could tear themselves away from watching DepressedEnders and the footie once and a while and educated themselves about politics. The world of politics need not be strange and alien. Politics should be about the people but politics requires the people to get involved and not allow politics to be left to professional politicians!

Cameron is a liberal spiv and fraudster. If the CONS were genuine eurosceptics they would say to the country that if Labour force this Lisbon Treaty onto the statute books without a referendum and ratify it they would seek to have a retrospective referendum on it should they obtain office after the next election.
