The europhile Liberal 'Democrats' have fallen 4% in the latest opinion poll published today - just six months after replacing their leader Sir Menzies Campbell MP with 'Nick' Clegg MP.
According to a poll by ComRes in today's Independent newspaper, the Liberal 'Democrats' now have a 16% projected national vote share. The fall in support for that party comes just a month after it got its lowest local election vote share for a decade and after it lost two of its five seats on the London Assembly. Despite its current problems, the Labour Party share of the vote is up 4% in the new poll to 30% - 6% less than the actual share of the vote Labour got at the last General Election. Conservative support - at 44% - is at the level Lady Thatcher achieved when she won three General Elections. The figures are: Conservative 44% +4% Labour 30% +4% Liberal Dims 16% -4% ComRes interviewed 1006 people on and between 30th May 2008 - 1st June 2008. Poll deepens Labour gloom as MPs return to Commons - UK Politics, UK - The Independent |
