According to the report, he says he has been off the booze for 20 days now, apparently in an attempt to get his ballerina fiancee to come back.
On the basis of that profile, it would be very easy to make fun of him. It sounds like he is screwed up and has screwed up. I hope he manages to get his life back together - at least it sounds like he is trying. And I hope he gives up all this far-right nonsense and goes back to doing some art. I've read in various places in the past that some in his party want him to replace Griffin as leader. I can see why - he doesn't have Griffin's neo-nazi baggage and he has reached a more prominent elected position than anyone else in the BNP's dismal history. Still, I hope he resists the lure, as it will only draw him deeper into the bog. If he is lucky, Griffin will see him as a threat, boot him out of the party and he'll get his life back. Sorry if this sounds condescending towards Barnbrook. It isn't meant to be, much as I detest his politics. |

An interesting piece and on the whole reasonably unbiased. However I think the use of black and white as opposed to colour photography was a subliminal attempt to create sinister undertones.
To be honest I have never seen Richard intoxicated, and I have campaigned in London a few times, what he always seemed to me was so passionately wound up to project his views that he would rush his words. I don't think anyone from UKIP can hold the moral high ground on alcohol abuse though, having read reports of post session hospitality in the EU parliament! ![]() Cheers Nige! ![]() Last edited by Vortex; 01-06-2008 at 10:21 AM. I am quite sure you couldnīt have.
Personally, I would need to read the full quote before commenting on whether or not it is a threat. I think it has probably been carefully edited, though I fear that if mass-immigration continues unabated and the politicians continue to ignore the people he may well be right, especially if the forecasted recession becomes a depression.

It is because the whole power of the aggressor depends upon preventing people from seeing what is happening and from saying what they see. " Enoch Powell |

How can somebody who claims to be a liberal party supporter post on a patriotic forum like this . His party beleives in massive immigration , is pro europe , pro homosexuality. Ante hanging . This is everything we have had 40 years of. No wonder hundreds of thousands of people are leaving this sinking ship . Tom i hope your grandkids forgive you.

I am afraid he's right Tom. You have betrayed your children and grandchildren like most posters on here. You need to sit down and have a long, think. Reflect on the consequences of your actions. That applies to all the UKIPs, liberals and Libertarians.

That's a bit like a German nationalist circa 1928 telling a German liberal that he is betraying his children and grandchildren (and his Volk?) and should have a rethink. Didn't turn out that way, did it? The self-proclaimed super-patriots took their country into a vast war which killed untold numbers of those children and left every German city a body-strewn smoking ruin. The evil men they helped put in power - well, we know what they did, and Germans today still feel a sense of shame about it. After the German nationalists had tested their theories (and their country) to destruction, the liberals and social democrats and moderate conservatives picked up the pieces. Don't talk to me about patriotism.
We all have to make the best judgement we can about what will be in the interests of our children and grandchildren and take that into account when casting our ballots, and that is what I am doing. I want them to live in a Britain which preserves the traditional British virtues of tolerance, democracy and personal freedom. For me, that is patriotism. |
