Default your liberalism

Tom when you mention nazi germany of course you are correct. But in the list of war crimes, i wonder why your ilk never mention joe stalin and maotse tung . Some people beleive these despots killed even more of there own people . Maybe you beleive in selective propaganda. i also beleive in democracy and personal freedom . I also beleive in law and order which has been destroyed by wishy washy liberalism. Tom do you also beleive in family values and the institute of marriage. Do you beleive in respect for law and order. I rather think your brand of enlightenment. Do you beleive in massive immigration . We are now the third most crowded country in the world , drug ridden crime ridden . This is why thousands are leaving for the exit. This is the legacy we pass on to our children. The present 3 party system is morally bankrupt, and your party has made a contribution. To confirm what i say , your brand of liberalism will put to test in years to come , by an intolerant religion , which despises homosexuality , treats women like dirt , doesnt approve of alchohol etc. ,in otherwords undemocratic. Since this labour goverments involvement in the illegal iraq war many of these people have joined your small party . very strange bedfellows indeed . Liberals and non Liberals in one party.

At the risk of stepping into a hornets' nest here - you are aware that you are addressing your comments to a supporter of The Liberal Party and not the Liberal Democrats?

And of course, Liberals and Lib Dems do believe in law and order - we just differ from conservatives (and Conservatives) in how that is best acheived. I genuinely believe that a government that tries to rule by fear and control is doomed to failure.
Policing that involves the (majority law-abiding) community in keeping order and laws which restrict only what must be restricted (lifting the ban on many drugs while tackling the theft, violence and gangsterism for example) are examples of liberal methods applied to an effective end. Liberalism is about mutual respect - something entirely absent from the British state's present relationship with its citizens.

My final point for now is that you should not confuse Liberalism - which has at its heart the respect for the individual and the dispersal of power amongst the citizenry and Socialism - which is instinctively collectivist and centralising. We have experienced only one of the above in the past 50 years in the UK.

Any body who has the notion that we have been treating our citizens with fear and control is living in bloody cuckhoo land . We have soft sentences given out , which are only half served. We have no deterrent , no respect or fear of the law , and a police service ,that is mainly a tax collecting The silent majority are fed up of 60 years of your wishy washy liberalism . Look around at the bloody overcrowded **** tip we live in . And then realize who to blame. Even after all these years of liberal brainwashing , the people are crying out for tougher sentencing for criminals

When I was at University I had the good fortune to be *obliged* to study Hobhouse's "Liberalism".

When *Liberals* write passages along the lines you have, I really do wonder if there is a rabbit inside your heads working the controls.
