BBC Parliament will today (30.5.2008) show BBC 1 Television coverage of the overnight results of the June 1983 General Election (won by Lady Thatcher). Mr. Michael Foot was leader of the Labour Party at the 1983 General Election. The europhile SDP (formed by pro-EU politicians who quit the Labour Party in 1981) failed in its aim of replacing the Labour Party as the second largest party at the 1983 General Election.
The broadcast begins on the BBC Parliament channel at 3pm and will run until 8.10 pm. |
