Default "Conservative opinion poll lead increases as Brown's personal poll rating slumps"

The result of a new opinion YouGov poll published in today's Sunday Times puts support for the parties nationally at:

Conservatives 45% +1%
Labour 25% -3%
Liberal 'Democrats' 18% +1%

YouGov interviewed 1800 people on 15th and 16th May, 2008. If the voting figures were repeated at a General Election the Conservatives would win over 400 seats in the House of Commons.

According to the Sunday Times the personal poll rating for Labour Prime Minister Gordon Brown has slumped by the largest amount of any Head of Government since Neville Chamberlain. YouGov said only 17% of those questioned approve of the record of the Prime Minister with 68% saying that he had done a bad job.

Another opinion poll result published today - in the News of the World - indicates that the Conservatives will win this week's Parliamentary By-Election at Crewe-Nantwich:

"Tory Crewe opinion poll lead increases: 6 in 10 say Labour better off without Brown"

The candidates for the Crewe-Nantwich Parliamentary By-Election on 22.5.2008 are:
The Flying Brick - The Official Monster Raving Loony Party, Tamsin Dunwoody – Labour, Gemma Garrett – Independent, Mike Nattrass - UK Independence Party, David Roberts - English Democrats, Elizabeth Shenton - Liberal Democrats, Robert Smith - Green Party, Paul Thorogood - Cut Tax on Petrol and Diesel, Edward Timpson – Conservatives, Mark Walklate - Independent
