No she would not.

When Norway declared independence from Sweden just over 100 years ago it (Sweden) did not become a republic. Neither did Norway.

England is a Royalist nation.

Yeah, but in that case you would have to rename the coutry, reprint pounds etc. anyway. Failure of the UK would be also seen as failure of monarchy. It's purely hypothetical and unlikely, but it's the only way I can imagine it could happen.

It would have one advantage though - you would be able to take a walk in the Buckingham palace park, and visit every corner of Buckingham palace itself.

True.

Most european nations who lost their Monarchies did not choose to become republics voluntarily.

No, the Country would be called England, and our bank notes already have 'Bank of England' on them.

I'm quite happy for the Queen to live there. I'm not going to overthrow the Monarchy just to go roaming around the former Royal residence.

Indeed, even in its most difficult times during recent years, 1992 and 1997 in particular there has remained a clear majority within this country who retained affection and loyalty to the crown.

He (Salmond - leader of the Scottish 'National' Party) only does so because he needs the votes of some Scottish Monarchists if he is to win an independence from the UK referendum.

I am convinced that the europhile Scottish 'National' Party would turn Scotland into a republic if they managed to get power in Scotland were she outside the UK.

Yes - The lowest ever opinion poll rating for the UK Monarchy (in opinion polls carried out in the UK) put support for The Crown higher here than the highest ever opinion poll rating the French Presidency has received in France.

It is possible to walk in the grounds of Buckingham Palace - the Palace is open to visitors throughout the Summer. Unlike the Palaces of most Presidents around the world.
