Trevor Phillips, in his official capacity as chairman of the Commission of Equality and Human Rights, has stated that some members of British society should be treated as 'less than human'. The last reference I read with a similar aim resulted in millions of people being murdered in concentration camps during WW2. Is Mr Phillips now showing NuLabours true colours?

Virtually every great Briton who ever lived would have been, in a low-key sense, 'racist'. Some, like Winston Churchill, Queen Elizabeth I and David Hume were outspoken enough to put themselves in the ultra-racist sinbin.

To those who say 'That was then; this is now', I would address the question. 'What exactly have we learned since 1600, 1750 and 1950 that wasn't sheer bloody obvious before?'

I'll tell you.

Even as long ago 1600 and a fortiori by 1950 the argument was made, again and again, 'If only they were allowed to rule themselves they would develop in line with us'.

The sad truth is that we now know better, but people like Bear are in denial about the truth.
