On May 1st, the Labour Party managed to avoid a split in their vote from 2003 and mobilized the strong Asian vote against the BNP. Despite the usual cliches parroted by the increasingly anachronistic far left, the local newspapers gives a good account of David Exley's time in office.

There have been BNP councillors who have been inept and failed to deliver, but so have representatives from the other parties. Here is a balanced account of the other side of the coin.
