Largely it's a shame that UKIP could not have taken that place, but that looked unlikely, though the seat going to Greens for 3, One London retaining one, or even Christian Voice etc. is also a shame.

I wonder if Richard Barnbrook stays part of the BNP though and not break off to form a 'Veritas-One London' splinter called 'Real London First' or something. I reckon a lot of members, and probably himself, see him as an alternative leader to Nick Griffin. Perhaps any BNP members out there can clarify this?

What powers/perks do the London Assembly Members have anyway and what's the pay? What can the BNP now do that they couldn't not previously do?
Having met and campaigned for Richard, I believe that there is no way he will do anything other than help to build the BNP into a more credible force building on his recent success. He is a strong supporter of Nick Griffin and is happy with his brief to develop and expand the party in London and the South. The BNP like other parties is not immune to egotists, troublemakers and splitters, as was well documented last December, when a small group of malcontents tried to instigate disruption but utterly failed. It was Richard who was the key player in rallying support around Griffin and the status quo, by announcing his engagement to Simone Clarke which made all the news, not the nonentities engaged in their attempted coup. The party has since united and forged ahead.

The London Assembly is seen and acknowledged as the most important tier of government after parliament and the EU. It is certainly more rewarding in financial terms, worth about £100,000 a seat plus access to influential players in the media including television, as well as paid staff and research assistance. The BNP now have a voice in the greatest city in the world, which is why the world's press from the far east to the USA have reported on the story. Power, money and influence. They are the rewards that were gleaned on 1st May.

I was at a political meeting in a pub with Richard Barnbrook a few years ago. Every 5 minutes he would pull out his mobile and phone NG asking for his advice or verdict on whatever decision was made. I started to wonder whether he is NG's obedient servant or somebody who could form his own conclusions.

Barnbrook knows he will achieve more in the BNP, he is also a loyal member and loyal to Nick Griffin. Talk of him leaving the party is just wishful thinking, Barnbrook will take the BNP to a whole new level as our first ever Assembly member.

So in other words we have got NG's boot licker rather than somebody who sticks with their principles, or stands up for the interests of London and Londoners. If NG shouts JUMP then will Barnbrook JUMP?

Also, what will happen to Barnbrook if the BNP gets a new leader either through "democratic" means or if NG ends up with a bullet in his head? Remember that Barnbrook is elected for 4 years of service.

I am sure he will remain a BNP assembly member.

Im definitely no fan of a party whose support was based on ethnic hatred but masquandering as "anti-immigration" , "voluntary repatriation" and had ancestrial link with the National Fronts.

But the mainstream politicians were not in a mature or genuine way of doing good to the society by simply putting themselves under the spot light and using new ways to win moral medals. They have had real chance of offering real economic policy changes to help the entire working class when disgurnted people started to turn themseles to the BNP. As usual they chose the easy way.
