The pro-EU Greens are hardly likely to want an alliance with UKIP and the miniscule 'Liberal Party' are hardly players.

Remember Chad Noble and his ProgCon party? He thought the Conservatives would accept him as an equal partner in a stupendous alliance and then stomped off in a fury when they didn't even bother to acknowledge his letters.

Has anybody heard of him lately?

Indeed, 'ProgCon' was probably the biggest joke going at the time.

It always sounded to me like one of those DIY preganancy testing kits.

I think it is an excellent idea!

I've read that the Liberal Assembly passed a motion (in about 2000 or 2001, I think) barring the party's leadership from ever entering into an alliance or a merger with any other party. If that resolution is still in force then it would be a barrier to the Liberals joining any formal alliance. However, if there was strong support for such an alliance then the next Liberal Assembly could of course vote to approve it.

There are of course many policy differences betwen the three parties - in fact apart from the detailed differences, the whole approaches are different. I went over to the Liberals because their approach suited me better. Therefore alternatively, rather than a formal alliance with shared policies, it might be better to aim for more informal co-operation stopping short of an actual alliance. Nigel Farage and Steve Radford seem to have a good working relationship - I seem to remember that they have shared a platform at at least two recent demonstrations (ID card and referendum on Lisbon?)

Don't all other parties put their differences aside and gang up together against the BNP? Looks more like school playground bullying (of the BNP) than professional politics.

What makes you think this has anything at all to do with the BNP? Not everything in British politics revolves around them!

Would you care to define what you mean by 'alliance' here, and what is its purpose?
