I think the Libetarians have a lot of good to offer although I wouldn't personally follow all of the ideas set out by people like Dr Gabb.
It would be good to see some of those leaning towards a Libetarian stance joining the English movement and adding a different point of view.

I've always heard it mean what you describe as this so-called American version in the UK outside of message boards.
But that was only in universities, I'm sure. I mentioned it to my father once and he thought it was meant leftwing.

Quote:
Again, I know exactly what you mean, but it is completely irrelevant and has absolutely no bearing on the purpose of this thread.
It sort of does. I'm simply objecting to the usage of the word libertarian here.

Quote:
And it also means the right wing ideology that what most consider to be libertarians espouse.

Again, what is the point of this?
Simply that it measn many things.

Then that's up to you to define what your beliefs are. If you resent it, then tough, if you don't want to be associated with them (I don't even really know what you want, you seem to be arguing over the most absurd and minor definitions for absolutely no apparent reason) then don't call yourself a libertarian.
Other usages are older and at least as popular.

Old style liberals had to do it with the word liberal, I'm sure the tiny minority of left-wing anarchists will do the same. Or maybe they will just use the word 'anarchist'.
It is hard to say but globally they and other libertarian socialists are probably as numerous as American style libertarians. It can be applied to any leftwing communists like council communists.

There is no such thing as a Libertarian socialist. Socialism is in absolute contradiction with Libertarian points of view.

True libertarianism is the ultimate in anarchism.

Don't confuse anarchism with an unruly mob.

For example Libertarianism believes in open boarders which would mean mass immigration.
These immigrants inturn would vote for Left Wing parties destroying what a Libertarian party has created.
They are many more such seeds of destruction.

But Libertarianism doesn't believe in Welfarism. I don't mind the race or religion of anyone. Only that they don't live at my expense.

They already are. The majority of the NuLabour front-bench are Marxists, and most of the garbage we're having to live with because of them is aimed at creating a Marxist State.

What do you mean by Marxism, what do you see as the basic dimensions of Marxist ideology, and how do you relate New Labour to Marxism?

Serious questions, as I see damm little about New Labour that is in common with Marxism beyond a desire to impose a suffocating control over the people.
