I've seen some of this at first hand. Although in my sector it tends not to be bamboozling that's the problem, it's poorly managed projects with many different areas that never seem to match up 100%.

I've also seen some crafty individuals who work on projects, then when a second project is commisioned they do some work on it, jump ship and then become consultants at the firm/department that has commisoned said project.
Whilst there is nothing in essence wrong with this, you can imagine the cost goes up rapidly as suddenly somebody who was costing the project 400 quid a day is now costing 800 quid.

"Poorly managed projects" is one way of saying it.

Discraceful is another.

I'm sure they do feather their own nest but to suggest that new Labour has been "taken in" by consultants beggars belief !

They have been 'taken in' in the same way that Gorbals Mike has been 'take in' by the complexities of being Speaker.
