Default Brown rejects cap on immigration

BBC NEWS | Politics | Brown rejects cap on immigration

Quote:
He said migration had added £6bn to the economy and was a "substantial income".
The Barnett formula takes more than that in a year.

Quote:
Speaking at his monthly news conference, he said the Australian-style points-based system would effectively "restrict the numbers of people who come into this country from outside Europe". It would bar unskilled immigrants from outside the European Union, he said.
Sure that will annoy a few.

New Labour - Erasing England since 1997.

Brown is right, immigration DOES add to the economy. Or rather it inflates DOMESTIC economic activity by inflating the economy with borrowed funds.

What he fails to mention is that both the government and the private sector have to borrow money from overseas sources like crazy to fund the economy and have been doing at an insane and unsustainable rate for the last twelve years.

I wonder if New Labour in general and Brown in particular are spectacularly incompetent, or the worst bunch of charlatans in the past hundred years.

I suspect that it is both.

Spitting Image featured a clip where Labour politicians mentioned having to look down the Sofa for money to pay for the NuLab project.

Default Hats off to Gordon

I agree with the PM, we shouldn't cap immigration, we should bl**dy well wack it with an enormous fez and then wrap it up inside a never ending turban.
