We gained some resources from the colonies which made us money, but we also had to then run the colonies aswell which were expensive so our profits didn't last too long. Especially when King Henry (?) sold off the Navy because he had almost bankrupted us.

I am proud that we had the Empire. Not everyone was against the Empire, the citizens of colonies fought alongside our soldiers Worldwide, not just because they were forced into doing so but because the Empire was a force for good, in a way.

I was reading about some Pirates, William Dampier, Bartholomew Roberts, Henry Morgan, and in one book it said that some Country had wanted the English to protect them from the Europeans, they were waiting for us to enter into formal trade relations with them aswell. In history, Brits were never as bad as the Europeans. In Africa I think it was the Dutch or Spanish who treated the Africans so badly that Brits were disgusted over the treatment.

Nowadays we are living in a World that is not supposed to be about colonialism, we are all supposed to be free and the EU is very anti-freedom. At least the Empire was democratic, we had Parliaments in some colonies.

Most Scots were originally anti-union and it took alot of bribery and trickery from the whig oligarchy and pretenders to force it on us in the first place. We didn't need it then and don't now.[/quote]

Although I believe in the UK I think we should dissolve it now. The EU has only made agreements with the UK, not England, Scotland etc so dissolve the UK and we effectively are no longer European in the political sense.
