The colonies always gained from the UK. Scotland is able to give free prescriptions etc because you have around 100 people living up there and you get millions per annum from us. The USA were in a good position because they had British troops over there and they were getting the experience/knowledge from us lot. They had a sissy fit when we asked them for tax money (we all have to contribute!!)

Most Scots were originally anti-union and it took alot of bribery and trickery from the whig oligarchy and pretenders to force it on us in the first place. We didn't need it then and don't now.

Even though it was a Scottish King who wanted the Union as well as the political class in Scotland? Scotland was bankrupt because there effort to form an empire ended when they failed in Panama?, so I believe that Scotland did need the union. England was fine before the union but I think it finally accepted it 100 years after the union of crowns just so you wouldn't keep jumping in bed with the enemy.

Best fighting units? England got bombed during ww2 whilst the SNP of the era supported Hitler. Ireland even allowed Nazi U-boats to dock in order to attack the British mainland.
