Quote:
Modern men feel emasculated, study claims By Sarah Womack, Social Affairs Correspondent Many men believe the world is now dominated by women and that they have lost their role in society, fuelling feelings of depression and being undervalued. Asked what it meant to be a man in the 21st century, more than half thought society was turning them into "waxed and coiffed metrosexuals", and 52 per cent say they had to live according to women's rules. What they apparently want is what some American academics have dubbed a "menaissance" - a return to manliness, where figures such as Sir Winston Churchill were models of manhood. The research also shows that just as women feel their work-life balance has been stretched to breaking point, men think they have too many roles to play. And although less sympathetic, 63 per cent of women recognise that men are struggling to meet the demands made of them. But the hunter-gatherer role is still a strong male instinct. Once fatherhood arrives, men say they would prefer a more traditional role of either being the sole breadwinner with their partner a full-time mother and homemaker (34 per cent), or the main breadwinner with their partner working part-time (24 per cent). Around 2,000 men and women were polled on the internet across 10 television regions for a survey commissioned by DMAX, an entertainment television channel from Discovery Networks. Men said they "felt handcuffed" by political correctness - only 33 per cent felt they could speak freely and say what they thought, whereas two thirds found it safer and to conceal their opinions. Harvey Mansfield, a Harvard professor and America's best known political philosopher, who tackles the topic in his book Manliness, says the issue is ignored. "A man has to be embarrassed about being a man. I am trying to bring back the word manliness. It's not respected," he said. According to the survey, men hold other men who speak their mind in high regard - the likes of Jeremy Clarkson, Jeremy Paxman, Bob Geldof and Gordon Ramsay. Their biggest hero is Churchill. But four out of 10 are frightened of heights and spiders while a third are frightened of bossy women. Modern men feel emasculated, study claims - Telegraph Is it that men are less masculine today or is it the laws which keep them in their place - or something else? |

Jeremy Clarkson, Jeremy Paxman, Bob Geldof and Gordon Ramsay are in my opinion archetypal examples of what “lads” turn into when they age.
Geldorf and Ramsey add to the offensiveness by being ignorant, arrogant, and disgustingly foul mouthed bullies of the worst possible kind. |

There should be two words, one being traditions the other being ambitions. Traditions reflect in custom and practice a way of life that the people of an incoming population bring with them. Ambitions are the intent that a population have in what they want to do with their traditions, especially when those traditions embody an ideology that is alien or even counter to that of the host nation. As long as their traditions don’t run foul of the law of the host nation then all is probably well and good, but the moment they do break the law, or the moment that the ambitions of the alien population look for the law to be changed in order to cater for their traditions or worse yet their ideology, that is the point at which a line has been crossed. |

The nation is in trouble. In previous times it would be the male population that would be up in arms against the 'big brother' society which has been gradually introduced. Why are men no longer performing this role? |

The assumption is that males have become less masculine.
Maybe what is being seen is that it is not that men are in some way loosing their inborn masculinity but rather that masculinity is being “educated” out of them during their schooling as a result of the social engineering that has been taking place in our schools for a couple of generations now Perhapse finally the limp wristed diversity worshiping Guardianistra that are corrupting the nature of kids in the name of equality and the avoidance of a feeling of failure at all times as they brain wash what the kids that they should be concentrating on teaching and not warping to the value set the teachers themselves have been warped to believe they should have is finally becoming set in stone as a national characteristic. After graduating many years ago and when things were not so wishy-washy as they are today I thought briefly about taking up teaching. I attended a weekend presentation of what would have been involved. I did not take up teaching as a career. Maybe another factor is the emergence of women as being exactly the same as men with the result that on our streets as many fights seem to be originating within groups of young women as amongst groups of young men, at least in the city that I live near to on a weekend night they do. Perhaps the attempt to do away with sex stereotypes has had a knock on that no one ever envisaged. Or the removal of all forms of danger from the lives of those growing up means that the thick skin that follows grazed knees and that built what we would have called character is lost as the safety comes in. Or that parents these days are more like older siblings than figures of slightly remote authority that they once were to their kids. Another factor could well be the rejection of people who were presented as heroes when I attended school now over forty five years ago and who are now presented as being worse than thieves in the case of the likes of Cecil Rhodes or as wanton destroyers of the environment in the case of one of my childhood heroes, Scott, of Antarctic fame. Men develop. Take away the environment that men used to develop in and don’t be surprised that you no longer get men. |

The law too is based on the notion of mothers being the partner most likely to be self sacrificing for their children so they will almost always be awarded custody along with the family home and a good proportion of the fathers income, with divorce being much more common, is it any wonder that men are becoming scared of their wives - the law gives wives so much power. Many of today's women, having been given this responsibility, have demonstrated that the concept is not as true as originally thought. |

The raw primeval fear that I have of my wife is 100% based on experience.
As she says on the thankfully rare occasions we have a disagreement about a thing “Remember, at some point you will have to sleep”. Many years ago and whilst on holiday and after an argument about taking an excursion or not she wrote the word “tit” on my back in sun block. I fell asleep by the hotel pool and wondered what all the amusement was about from fellow guests. A sensible man learns from such experiences. We have been wed for well over thirty years and I have never forgotten that at some point I WILL have to sleep. I’m only relieved that she has never read of the work done byPavlov. |
