Breaking News: The Sunday Times will tomorrow (16.3.2008) publish an opinion poll by YouGov putting the Conservatives 16% ahead of Labour - the Tory party's biggest national opinion poll lead for 20 years:
Conservatives 43% +3% Labour 27% - 6% Liberal 'Democrats' 16% (no change) Other parties 14% The poll result is a humiliation for the europhile Liberal Dims who had hoped that picking a new leader a few months ago would have given them the sort of boost in the polls which parties often get when they elect a new leader. Labour's share of the vote in the new Sunday Times/YouGov poll - 27% - is the same share of the vote that party got at the 1983 General Election (which it lost when it was reduced to just over 200 seats in the Commons). The Conservative share in the new YouGov poll - 43% - is about the same vote share that Lady Thatcher won in three consecutive General Elections. YouGov puts support for smaller parties at 14% - higher than it has been in some recent opinion polls. Tomorrow's News of the World will publish an ICM poll putting the Conservatives 9% ahead of Labour (up 3% on last month). The Sunday Telegraph will publish a poll result tomorrow showing strong disapproval from the British public to last week's budget from Alistair Darling, Labour Government Chancellor. I just want to know when is somebody going to ask me my opinion? On anything! At 66 years of age I deserve to be asked my political opinion by a political analyst? If not, should I complain about my Human Rights being violated?

Kernow: You can register with some of the opinion poll organisations via their websites and give your opinion on various current affairs matters. I understand that there is a payment of about 50 pence to those who participate in some of these 'online polls'.
