It's getting better, but you're right. It's got its quagmire days, for sure!

Yes, but not because the BNP has lots of support. The thing about the British reading public is that they love stories about Nazis. Or vicars in sex scandals. Or the royals. Isn't there an old Fleet Street joke about the perfect headline being:

"Nazi Vicar in Royal Sex Scandal!"

It doesn't matter whether the BNP leader really is a neo-nazi or not (though I personally am pretty sure he is). The fact is that he is portrayed as one, and that is why he is newsworthy.

Question Is it worth the paper it's written on?

So they stoke him up as a two-headed devil in order to make more money out of more readers? I call that immoral, but they probably call it good journalism!

Yes, he only has one head. Saying he has two is out of order.

He's not the only one they've done it to. Take the whole issue outside politics and it is obvious, with the number of innocent people who have been hounded by the media, that they (media) should be made accountable for their policy of printing what they like, irrespective of the truth.

It probably does the BNP a few more favours than harm, it boosts interest in what they have to say. Plus due to the media hype in the past even when they do fairly fair stories on them it gets huge hits compared to other stories. The hastings case the newspaper had a video interview with Nick which was very fair if not promotion.

In some ways politicians should expect the media to hound them, whatever Party they are members of. The media, in my opinion, should be held accountable for all the lies they spread about 'innocent' victims. Look how they hounded Heather Mills once her break up with Paul McCartney. Or how they manage to tell two opposite stories about the same event. Someone has to be deliberately lying.

Yes they do need to be held accountable, but we need to be careful we do not start restricting freedom of the press.
