At the time I thought the EiE might be risking legal action in using the membership list in that way. Of course they might win, we'll see. But after thinking about it all, this is the conclusion I have come to: Griffin likes power, and is willing to keep it at a high cost. One good way of doing so is by promoting good activists to leadership positions who are not good leaders; people who are petty, small-minded, unable to delegate, micromanages, not particularly intelligent, and not people-savy. This would explain why there is so much disarray at local level, with petty infighting the norm. Divide and conquer perhaps. Do the EiE leaders fit this? I don't know, but I'm inclined to think they do, from the little I have seen. Good activists no doubt, but not the kind of leadership material that nationalism is in desperate need of. Therefore really he won when he purged capable people when he first got into power. Now he can guarantee that real opposition never comes about. Still, he might have upset too many people this time.
