Never mind about the conventional political process because it's flawed to such a degree it's not worth keeping.

What we need is love not lies, which means to love the truth, love of people, ie to want the best for them, love your country, ie to want the best for it. And it doesn't mean to act blindly believing you are right and only you are right, that is not love of the truth, it means to always want the best result for the best reasons and you'll always work toward that.

But what does politics means :- to lie, to be 'economical' with the truth, to only speak that which is to your advantage and withhold information which is not to your advantage, to make what you say have the appearance that best suits your interests and the purpose of personal power and influence, to deceive by ommision, hide the truth, put off telling it

Therefore politics is not good not the road to get to a good place. It's all wrong, people should tell the truth as it is, represent the facts as they are and say what they really think and believe.

What we need is a new idea of this kind of discussion which is not based on politics but based on the truth and everyone has to be measured against that and nothing else, the truth as best it can be understood of course .

Would it were that simple crac. The problem with 'truth' is that it is based on perception. For example Hartlepool and I both believe it to be true that the policies of our respective Parties are the best hope for Britain in this current climate. Yet we are diametrically opposed on them. Which of us speaks the 'truth'?

Many of the mainstream politicians are out and out liars, this is well known. But were they liars before they entered politics, or is being economic with the truth something they learned to do in order to keep their seats?

If you can find a way to determin what the truth is, let me know and I'll be among the first in the queue to join your New Truth Party.

The culture we call politics is about manipulating the impressions that you give others for personal gain and to prevent anything that might make you lose .
'Spin' is just more deception then usual but its accepted as part of the political culture now.

Government should be about values and about the truth without those games of deception and manipulation which should be outlawed from our system of government.

It should not be allowed and accepted it at all from people who are said to represent our interests.

Whats wrong with the truth spoken as you know it to be without ommission or hiding or changing bits of it to gain personal advantage.

You don't need a dipoma in philosophy to do that or to know when someone else is doing that. It's a matter of deciding to no longer allow any sugestion of deception or economy with the truth by our politicians.

Hi, Crac. If you believe in the politics of love, that is a good start: no wonder Ihope thinks you are a Popdem member. But love can only come from really reaching out to understand. In politics it's what you want to do with that understanding that makes a difference.

Truth is not the gold standard. Politicians say spin is truth, but warped to a kind of anti-truth. Truth that hurts people badly is not something to be proud of - it goes beyond 'does my bum look big in this'.

UKpopdems looks at politics the other way round to standard politicians. Instead of using that understanding for our own benefit, massaging our own egos, elevating ourselves to the top of society, we put ourselves at the bottom as servants to the people, using our understanding of what the people really want to develop practical policies that transcend party dogma to bring people true benefits. It's all published, so you can see for yourself.
