I think a step forward would be to make a party's manifesto open to scrutiny.
If a certain MP is voted in on a platform of promises, then he/she should be held responsible for their implementation. If Blair/Brown promised a referendum, then a referendum has to be held and if they renege on the promise then out they go. Instead of future politicians saying absolutely anything to get to power and then going their own sweet merry monetary way they need to be answerable to the electorate. Power without responsibility is corrupting and devastating for the people and democracy. |

All you need is love.
Yup - I know that now and it works for me. I stood in numerous elections hating the "THEM" ........send them Love. It kills them every time. (perhaps kills is not the right word ... but it works)

Agree with that, Seasider. What's in the manifesto should be monitored independently for delivery. Likewise, anything not in the manifesto can't be made up on the spur unless a referendum of the people agrees.
Of course this puts an onus on parties to really think through what it is they stand for and the detail of what needs doing in government. All parties, except UKpopdems, start with some sort of idea and only think about delivery later - some never. Look at te three main parties you'd have to think they haven't got a clue about policy - just winning is their game. Your way - and UKpopdems way, would stop all that damage. |

Love is......
I think you see people work and struggle and do the best for their families and you have to love that fact. You see people or learn of people who struggled through the horror of war and did the best they could and they do believe it's worthwhile if it means they can protect their country and their families and their way of life and you have to love the fact. You see kids starting off in life with their enthusiasms and foolish mistakes and their own unique way of thinking and doing things and their own unique something to contribute to the world and you have to love the fact. You see the beauty of nature that surrounds us and the honesty of it, just being itself, it doesn't have any politics and you have to love the fact. It shouldn't be so difficult getting rid of the lying game in our politics. If we loved the fact of doing things the right way. |
