Extreme europhile Patricia Hewitt MP, the Australian-born Labour politician who was sacked as Health Secretary, may be given the £200, 000 a year job of UK EU Commissioner when committed europhile Mandelson stands down next year (today's Telegraph reports):

Britannist adds: Pro-multi-culti Hewitt was the most pro-euro member of the Blair Labour regime apart from sacked Home Secretary Charles Clarke. If Hewitt gets the job in Brussels she will join a long line of politicians who have either been defeated at the polls; sacked or who have resigned from Government and then turned up again in public life with a key role on the EU Commission (i.e. Kinnock, Patten, Britten and Mandelson).
