David> By moving the border south by 20 miles, the SNP I believe hope that they would take an even larger share of North Sea Oil.
If the government allows the border to be moved I will be thoroughly disgusted. My family are from this part of England and if the Scots declared independence I believe they would be very angry at the prospect of being trapped in another country, possibly dragged further into the EU and essentially being treated as second class citizens.

The borders should stay exactly where they are. The folk in Berwick are only interested in this because of the above mentioned benefits and probably also due to Scottish folk moving there.

No way though, 100% against this.

What I find surprising is the attitude of the SNP. They say that they do not want political union with England, but they do want political union with part of England. Why part, but not all? Is this not hypocrisy?
Except it wouldn't be political union - it would be an annexation.

Default Giving away England?

Without stating the obvious, Tory and Labour "governments" have been 'giving away' parts of England for the last 60 years to millions of ex-empire colonials, each establishing their own little ghettos, sub-cultures and linguistic territories.

Yet, the Scots, or should I say a single twerp from the liberal establishment, propose a "return" to Scotland of English territory, and it's: "to the barricades, boys!"; perhaps the irony of all this has been lost on me, but the Scots are the LEAST of England's problems, and I dare say that some of England's finest defenders, no matter which political pursuasion they belong to, are of Scottish heritage.

That doesn't alter the fact that a change in border orientation is just not cricket (or golf, depending on which side of the border one arises from).
